How can we mobilize the church for outreach in our local communities?

Hands Across Lansing is a day of mission and service sponsored by the Lansing District of the United Methodist Church. The vision is for the church to reach across barriers of church and community for the work of Jesus Christ! We will with worship with Bishop David Bard. Then learn about partnering with your local community and engage in service projects.

 

When: Saturday October 7 from 9am-1pm. (Registration begins at 8:30 am)
Where: Mount Hope STEAM Elementary School
1215 E Mt Hope Ave, Lansing, MI 48910

 

Schedule:
8:30-9:00 am – Registration
9:00-9:30 am – Worship and presentations
9:30-12:00 pm – Service projects
12:00-1:00 pm – Lunch, debrief, and District Conference

 

Projects include:

– Painting school classrooms
– Making sandwiches and packing lunches for local refugees
– Community cleanup
– Hygiene kits for City Rescue Mission shelters*

Hygiene Kits For the Lansing District Conference “Hands Across Lansing” day of service we are asking each church, if possible, to please bring one health kit each for male and female which will then be delivered to the City Rescue Mission shelters. Kits can be in grocery type plastic bags and should include full size items as follows:

Women’s Bag List:
comb, washcloth, nail clippers, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, deodorant, twin blade razors, shaving cream, pad/tampons, conditioner, and lotion.

Men’s Bag List:
comb, washcloth, nail clippers, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, deodorant, twin blade razors, and shaving cream.
